Winicka!
Guide Dogs of America has determined that they would like to use Winicka as a breeding dog. Now that she is a "breeder" she doesn't need to go where I go because she is no longer working toward being a guide dog. So Winicka will be staying home from now on to keep Frieda company while Fiona comes to school.

Winicka LOVES toys!!
Instead of leaving her on leas and in jacket all day, I have allowed her to have play time before and after school. This morning I found that she loves the toy bag we have in class for Fiona. Unlike Fiona, Winicka enjoys PLAYING with the toys, whereas Fiona enjoys DESTROYING the toys! I left Winicka off leash while I went to the office and she had found the toy bag and selected a few more to play with...it was so cute! I have taken some more photos of her so be sure to check them out in the image gallery!

Just don't throw the toy.
Just don't throw the toy. You'll be stuck tossing it for quite awhile! However, if you say to her, "Can't reach it," she'll pick it up and hand it to you.

TOO LATE!
I ended up tossing various toys after school! I am sure my students won't mind tossing toys or playing tug of war with her! Winicka was slightly disappointed when I got involved in my work and wouldn't throw the toy for her anymore!

Winicka does number 2! It
Winicka does number 2!
It has been funny to watch my "Puppy Pals" deal with Winicka doing "number 2" on her potty breaks. Frieda and Fiona typically save "number 2" for home, so this class hasn't had to deal with the clean up. Thankfully Ronald knew just what to do!

Winicka loves to eat! No
Winicka loves to eat! No wonder GDA says she's fat! She currently is eating 1 cup of weight-control Canidae twice a day and her only treats are carrots...and ice! Frieda and Fiona are used to getting a few chunks of ice at nice when I have my glass of cold water. Riva was never really much of an ice eating dog, but Winicka loves anything she can eat! She gets so excited at meal times and treat times! It is very cute. She really does act like a much younger dog!

I don't think I've ever seen a dog eat faster than Winicka. By the way, is the diet working?

As for the diet, I assume it is working! I am not sure since I have only had her a short time and haven't weighed her. If her hunger for food is any indication, it may just be working, because she really does act like I don't feel her all day long!

Hello to Mrs. Ruiz's
Hello to Mrs. Ruiz's class! I hope that you enjoy having Winicka as part of your class. I know that you miss Riva, and I am sure that you will find that Winicka's personality is very different from Riva and Fiona. Did Mrs. Ruiz mention that I have Faryn, which is Fiona's sister?
Here's a little more information about Winicka. She was born April 5, 2005. She has seven other brothers and sisters. Three of them were sent to the state of Washington to live with their puppy raisers there. Not all of them are black, either. Some of her siblings are yellow labs. Winicka loves to run and retrieve, and she had a great time playing in the snow here in Idaho. She also enjoys swimming!
I look forward to hearing everyone's stories about having Winicka around. Just like you miss Riva, I miss Winicka, so remind Mrs. Ruiz to take a lot of pictures!
